If you live anywhere near Moorpark, you know Underwood Family Farms. For my family, it’s a tradition. We went on opening day again this year, and the Fall Harvest Festival is as fun as ever: tractor rides, the corn maze, the pumpkin patch, the barnyard animals, and those giant hay spiders you can see from the road.
This is the festival’s 29th year. Here’s what you need to know before you go.
Dates and hours
- When: Saturday, September 26 through Friday, October 31, 2026
- Hours: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day
- Where: 3370 Sunset Valley Road, Moorpark, CA 93021
Tickets
- Weekdays (Monday to Friday): $16 at the gate. Weekday tickets are sold at the gate only.
- Weekends: tickets are sold online only, and the price depends on the weekend and how early you buy. Buy ahead; popular October weekends can sell out.
- Free: children under 2, and parking.
- Discount: $2 off for seniors 65+, military, veterans, and first responders with ID.
Check current prices and buy weekend tickets on the official Fall Harvest Festival page.
What’s included
Admission covers most of the farm: tractor-drawn wagon rides, the corn maze, the pumpkin patch, the animal center, play areas, and the big farm-equipment slides. On weekends there are also live shows, including the pig races.
Some activities cost extra, like gem and fossil mining, the electric train, horse-drawn wagon rides, face painting, and games. Pumpkins are priced separately too.
The same tunnel, eight years apart
Underwood is a place we come back to every year. There’s a big tunnel at the farm, and we take a picture in it. Put the photos side by side and you can watch the time go by. The top two are from eight years ago, and the bottom two are from this year’s opening day.
That’s what I love about a place like this. The tunnel hasn’t changed. The kids have. If you go this year, start your own version. You’ll be glad you did.
Tips from a local
- Go on a weekday if you can. It’s cheaper, calmer, and you won’t need to plan ahead for tickets.
- Get there early on weekends. Mornings are cooler and the lines are shorter. Moorpark in October can still be hot in the afternoon.
- Leave the dog at home. Dogs and other outside animals aren’t allowed.
- No coolers. There’s food on site.
- Wear shoes that can get dusty. It’s a working farm.
Why I love Underwood
Moorpark still has real working farmland, and Underwood is a big part of what makes this corner of Ventura County feel like home. We keep coming back every fall.
If you’re thinking about a move to Moorpark or anywhere in the Conejo Valley, I’m happy to talk through the area with you. And if you go to the festival this month, tag me in your photos on Instagram. I’d love to see them.
Festival details are from Underwood Family Farms’ website as of October 5, 2026. Check their site before you go, since hours and prices can change.
